Thanks for a great post, NP Singh. Perhaps though, rather than further
overload our courts, an institution similar to the Press Council (which
accepts any complaints about slander, defamation or simple falsehood in the
print medium) needs to be constituted for the electronic media as well, in
which the stations themselves evolve a code for responsible broadcasting,
with suitable penalties for errant broadcasters.
