Dear Mr Sudarshan:

Do u think Mushy is in position to understand and do what India expects
out
of him? It is very clear from his ways that he can never compromise with

certain fundamentalist groups of Pakistan however sane India's arguments

be.

And then u have mentioned the difference of might between India and
Pakistan vis-a-vis US and Afghanistan...for this then Mr. Sudarshan our
so
called leaders should come of with their pants down and say the same to
the
public instead of whining about so called supremacy in thought, culture,

logistics, military prowess and so called scientific advancements. Let
our
leaders not blindfold us into believing we are 4th in certain missile
technology or 5th in some other. Your argument then proves that alike
the
rotten Pakis we the Indians (with so called improved and modern
thinking)are more pissy and eunuchs.

With full regards,
dipen

I beg to disagree.

Let us consider the alternative "hard" options in the
situations pointed out in the article.

Regarding hijack of the Indian Airlines plane, after
the plane landed to Kandhar, the only other "hard"
alternative left with Indian government was to let the
plane be blown up by the terrorists. It would have
conveyed a message that India is not only hard with
the terrorists, but also hard with its own citizens,
and does not care about their lives. Conclusion, A
nation that does not care about their citizens must
definitely be engaged in repression of Kashmiri
people. A big diplomatic victory for the terrorists
and those who aid them.

Regarding war with Pakistan after attack on Indian
parliament, if a swift action against Pakistan brings
desired results and curbs the menace of terrorism, I
am all for such an action. However, the diffrence of
power between India and Pak is not as big as that
between US and Afghanistan. I am doubtful that even if
we win the war, it will curb the menace of terrorism
for a long time. Moreover, such a war will do more
damage to our country than cross border terrorism is
currently doing.

Better option would be to make Mushy and his friends
understand that the jihadi organizations that run
their business of terrorism in India are also a threat
to civil society in Pakistan.

Regards,
- Sudarshan
