Dear Praveen,
you have closed the forum for discussion before it could get started,
let the discussions go on for power sector, while u can float a new
discussion on railways reforms. the power ministry's site is not the
only available information source. u probly may have missed out many
of the happenings taken place and taking place in the sector, which
is of a serious nationwide concern and the way in which this
sector has seen reforms since 1991 are drastic and many affecting the
national interest in the long in the time to come. I am not saying
that power sector is the only sector which drives the economy, but
obviously the mainstay for the economy to have sustainable future
having many ripple effects in years to come. hope to have some
fruitful discussions from u on this sector while hoping to
participate with u in a debate on railways which also needs a
considerable focus in time to come for the major restructuring in
their functioning and evidently the mindset.

regarding discussing reforms in the power sector, i took a look at the
Ministry of Power's website at http://powermin.nic.in and looks like
they
have done an enormous amount of work on restructuring the power
sector(and
most of it is already being implemented). I was wondering if it would
be
better to discuss and come up with a white paper on restructuring the
railways, where no work has been done and the proposal to restructure
the
railways is not even on the table yet.
Regards,
Praveen Hombaiah.
