GUINESS  BOOK  OF  WORLD  RECORDS: INDIA'S ACHIEVEMENTS

Most road fatalities:

India's roads are rated the most dangerous in the world. The country
contains 1% of the world's road vehicles but accounts for 6% of its road
accidents.  Of 9.34 million deaths in India in 1998, 217,000, or 1 in 43,
were the result of road accidents.

Most "Unintentional" deaths:

- or 1 in 13 - were defined as "unintentional".   They included 32,000
poisonings, 50,000 falls, 135,000 fires and 92,000 drowings.
