Boy stripped, assaulted in Orissa village
PTI
(Bhubaneswar, October 16)
THE POLICE have arrested four persons for allegedly stripping and assaulting
a tribal boy, accused of stealing a camera, and trying to forcibly convert
him to Christianity at a village in Orissa's Kandhmahal district, according
to a senior police official.
DIG of Police, Southern Range, Berhampur, B.N. Hota said a case had been
registered in this connection under various sections of IPC and the Orissa
Freedom of Religion Act on the basis of a FIR lodged by the father of
13-year-old boy Sabuasanu Digal, a resident of the village, on October 12.
The complainant, in the FIR alleged that Digal was accused by the organisers
of the convention of stealing a camera and he was stripped, assaulted and
paraded in the village for his refusal to convert to Christianity.
