corruption - the reason and a simple solution

Please help make the Manifesto better, or accept it, and propagate it!

i am new to the debate and this is my first mail to india policy.
So, kindly spare me if my comments sound amateurish.

For the past day, i have read about corruption and the various
perspectives about how to control it. But i think many of us are
ignoring the obvious.

"Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely"

this is the basis on which corruption exists. it is a fundamental law
of human action that we tend to get our goals with the minimum
effort. this tendency is universal and unmutable. ( It is
unreasonable to expect otherwise ). So, that which spurs action and
acts as a counter balance to this tendency is COMPETITION. We need to
increase competition in every field and make sure sectors like
government where competition is unfeasible are kept as small as
possible. Every action that the government does must be questioned.

Coming to the examples given, i would only ask one question

Why should the government run a cemetery ? or a driving test facility
for that matter ?

These can be perfectly handled by a private concern. there is a
demand for cemetries and for driving test services. Why should these
be done by the government? This has been the socialist poison
injected into our society for the past 50 years. Some services
provided by government are so ubiquotous that we forget that these
can be provided by the private sector, too.
this can definitely heal the problems of the society atleast in the
cases which are mentioned.

Getting the government of our backs is not an "option"- it is the
only course of action.
