Dr. Sabhlok this is a good question, especially #2.  The answer would be the
same in both cases,  The salaries of elected politicians (esp. ministers at
the national level) should match that of senior corporate executives and
then some (to match pay lost in options and stuff).  The reason being that
those most competent always have the option of pursuing employment in the
private sector.  To keep them in public office, one must more than match the
benefits of private sector employment.  In India a figure of $175K would be
incentive enough for me...
