Poverty I believe in India is a result of illiteracy and population which
again happen to be a
chain reaction. Bad economy and unemployement are also factors which
contribute.

The first two factors are issues which should be handled by the Government
and non profit Orgs and
are long time goals.

YES, i agree fro a fact that this has more or less become a chain
reaction, but the only way to break it is thru education - A right to free
primary education - it should become a fundamental right. Today the
govenment is spending lacs of rupees on higher education - This is
inperritive , but so is making primary education a fundamental right.
Education, would result in an informed decision and thus force better
goverance.

Economy and employment are issues which can be improved by the efforts of
both the people and the
Govt.

Over-Conservative Attitude in India:
People at large try to block huge amounts of revenue due to insecurity
(about the future),
inflation, mistrust (about investment) etc. which results in slowdown of
the economy.
The motto should be Make more rather than Save more (money).

Saving money is important - As follows in your text , we in India have no
means of Social security - Today, if a person were to take risk in India ,
he would have nowhere to go if his risk didnt pay back. + Saving money
ultimately results in proper chanalization of funds thru financial
institutions. What should not be done is hording money. Thats getting the
money out of the system and making it sweat.

System/Organization.
A few years back TN Seshan as Election Commisioner came up with a
brilliant
concept of Photo Ids,
which ran in parrallel to SSN (Social Security in US). A Unique
identification of every individual
in a country however trivial it may sound does reflect (and help) how
organized and systematic a
country is.The Photo ID scheme appeared to be a mass failure as the cards
at large were not right
or absurdly erroneous. It probably had flaws as the photo Id was not
really
as important as having
a unique identification record in computerised form which could be used
for
recording any history
(financial or otherwise)for that individual. A system like this would help
every person to be
secure with a history as a reference for financial institutions to easily
loan out money as
opposed to being uptight now. If money is easily available in form of
loans
for
Homes/Automobiles/Businesses other factors contributing to a bad economy
like corruption and crime
get eliminated automatically.

Also Presence of a debt forces individuals to keep busy/working hard
rather
than having a lowly
existence. Such a system will also help in non evasion of taxes.

A bigger overall strategy needs to be evolved. Everybody seems to be
coming out with their cards - RTO card - Election card - PAN card etc...
For that matter, if you look at the PAN card strategy , it seems to be the
best - It is well organized and linked well - I think over a period of
time you would find that the PAN card is going to funtion centrally in all
transactions and even be elivated to the status of social security as and
when India can afford to give one.

Social problems:
False pride avoids people from working all kinds of jobs; Dignity of labor
should prevail in
general which increases efficiency. Agriculture is seldom considered as a
modern occupation.

The problem is not Agriculture, the problem is how agriculture - Take a
train and go along any state in India, you will find small - minute -
farms. Agriculture should be treated as a business - actually speaking ,
it is the only business that will last , everything else can go - it cant.
Professionalism needs to enter Agriculture - IIMA has a post graduate in
Agriculture management, but god knows where these men / women go
eventually.
