Re: The greed continues....

Please help make the Manifesto better, or accept it, and propagate it!

What nonsense! (a polite outburst) A Corporation doesn't take the
interests of its customers into account when it has to compete with
other
Corporations? Under the Capitalist/Free Market Model where Corporations

have
to operate under intense competition the interests of its
customers/population
will be taken care of or else the entity will succumb to market forces!!

So,
shouldn't we hold the Government to the same standard of accountability?

I largely agree with Mr. Vamsi's thought process except that the
Government
is not competeing with anybody and as such is not subject to market
forces
for sustenance. This lack of competition is what gives it the
monopolistic
power. The 'we' that you mentioned are the people who are really the
customers/share holders of the government and have the power to refuse
its
services and replace management thru the voting process. In a
functioning
democracy this happens and that is why all congressmen and senators run
scared when they sense the public mood against their positions. This
does
not happen in India, the executive is not checked by the legislature and

vice versa. As such, unless you educate the "we" in India and bring
meaning
to the electoral process where a vote is a force to be reckoned with,
the
government will remain a runaway train and that's where all similarities
to
a corporation end. Today the time has come where the country has to be
run
like a business but we need the shareholders and the regulators to
provide
accountability. That is the major issue. The people must awaken in a
Jeffersonian sense of the term.
