Institutions are representative of ourselves..

Please help make the Manifesto better, or accept it, and propagate it!
---------------------------------------------------------------------
>Not everyone has the equal opportunity to go to school because of the
>quota system!
This is strange. Though I am neither an advocate nor an votary of the
quota system-- infact a fierce opponent of it -- I cannot be convinced
that
quota system is THE culprit. Do u mean that India, without the quota
system,
would have been an Eldorado ?
Also, education system alone cannot be blamed. Our parents are the
first
teachers. The seeds of morality are sown at home and nurtured both at
home
and school. Without the seeds being sown, how can we expect a good
harvest.
It is simple as that. I am sure all of you, who care about others had
good
upbringing.
Yes, the institutions that govern us are representative of whom they
rule.
That's why I sometimes console myself that no tears be shed at this
state of
affairs. We have sown a wind and now reaping a whirlwind.
A case in point. It's about the elections in our municipal ward. On
one
side is a veritable street-level politician, whose main appeal is his
caste.
On the other side is a political novice, who is educated and an advocate
and
who is committed to do good to the ward. Which ofcourse is known to
everybody. But came the election day, what mattered most to the people
was
caste. The rest need not be elobarated. Don't brush it off as an
instance of
uneducated unable to rise above caste considerations. What mattered to
the
so called educated ( rather literate, since being literate is not the
same
as being educated ) is the same, caste.
If we do a critical analysis, we'll realize that we ourselves are
responsible for the current state of institutions. Institutions are not
founded on any gospel. It's we who shape them. That is a bitter truth.
sincerely,
Prasad Boddupalli.
