As far as I recollect, neither I nor anyone else brought up the subject of
a ban on cloning with a view to including it in our manifesto.

Other people wanted to include specific encouragement of unethical
scientific practices such as cloning in the manifesto, and some of us
opposed that.

If Arvind is proposing that the suggestion to include in our manifesto the
encouragement of cloning be dropped, then that is fine with me.

Clearly, that is what Prof. Guptara has been saying.

I agree. One safe way to determine when it is human
would be to determine when the nervous system is
formed AND functional.
In any case, since the aim of IPI is to come up with
a manifesto and banning cloning does not have sound
arguments in its favour, it is not going to find a
place in the document. So I suggest we drop this
issue.
