For Notes: Logial Fallacies
Dear friends,
Since we are a debating forum, it is important to know the common logical
fallacies that one can come across in an argument, and then to label these
fallacies properly. I was looking for a good paper on this for some time
and came across one, by Robert Davis (born: 1908), a retd. Prof. of
Harvard University. I then OCRd it, corrected the errors, and spent a
total of 3 hours to bring to you:
http://www.indiaconsult.com/indiapolicy/Notes/logic.html
It can be obtained through the "Notes" section on the main web page.
Please go through it. This is a great paper, and will remind us when we
are debating about the kind of fallacies that we might be guilty of, and
also help us catch our opponent's fallacies and pin down the guity party.
"You ignoratio elenchi! Ad hominem and non-sequitur man!! You're out of
the game!!"
I am looking for a good example of debate - parliamentary or otherwise,
which should also be attached to the IndiaPolicy web page. If you come
across one, please forward the reference to me.
Thanks,
SS
[Did you notice that the footer worked properly the last time! Wow!! I've
