FW: Gather your Strength
This was one of the postings I came across in the other list. There is
this movement to get VSNL to understand the customer problems and get
public opinion on that.
I guess such measures are what make it possible, especially with the
availability of the electronic medium, to gather strength and voive ones
opinions and get the officials to listen to them.

Subject: Gather your Strength
Hello friends
This in continuation with my last mail in which I expressed about the
"satyagrah" to get our rights as a customer. Srinath has mentioned that
let's not politicise the issue. He is absolutely right. What we should
talk about is how we should go about it and he has pointed out some good
points to start with. I had mentioned that lets Quality of Service.
Let's
start from there. It is actually the job of service provider to state
what
quality of service he can provide in a given circumstances. Since VSNL
has
not given us what they are committed to provide let us work out what we
expect. Under given circumstance we can not ask for a moon but we can
expect certain minimum standards and let us start with that.

> d. Lack of enough disk space?

To prepare a list such questions I need input from you guys. Please
prepare
a questionnaire as if you are VSNL and trying to seek information from
customer to improve your services. Please take into consideration that
we
are in India and not in developed country. Please send these
questionnaires
to me directly on mailto:satitm@giaspn01.vsnl.net.in and I shall
compile
those and then circulate it to the list for final questionnaire to the
list.
The same will then be broadecasted to other list in various cities and
answers to be complied and then a memorandum of demands can be put
forward
to VSNL in an open letter to CMD of VSNL through electronic media press
etc.
To make this drive visible please circulate this short message to each
and
every list you are subscribed to make people aware that customer is not
going to be only at the receiving end.
================MESSAGE=====================
We apologise if he message bellow does not pertain to you. But please
understand this an effort to indicate the power of Internet in many
developing countries where monopolies rule the customers. If this
appeals
to you please spread this mail to your friends.
We the users of VSNL, the sole Internet Service Provider, in India as on
date would like to inform you that we shall not be operating our
accounts on
16th of December 1998 to protest against the quality of service provided
by
them. We wish to pressurise our ISP to offer a better value for our
money.
We hope you will excuse us for a day if we do not answer your mails on
the
day.

I request Vivek to let me know what is the present count on the list.
If we gather together we can do it.
