Re: Images and realities
Dear Dr. Roy, Ladies & Gentleman
I think Dr. Roy has made a very pertinent point. In fact I would like to
draw attention to my comments on the "Declaration of Free Citizens" and
the historical documents it draws its spirit from. In light of what Dr.
Roy has said it only goes to strengthen the argument that such a
declaration will have relevance and let men on the road and villages be
able to relate to it if it also draws inspiration on what India is made
up of and what our social, cultural and philosophical inheritance is.
Especially when he talks of family values and I see points on
"Individuals Contract with the Society" in the declaration I see a
contradiction. The declaration advocates a Individualistic world view,
India on other hand as pointed out by Dr. Roy is more relationship
oriented and community orieneted. Whether we like it or its a fact.
